by Lennart Holmquist

Edward William Carlson (1883 - July 26, 1932) who went by the name of Eddie was the son of Maria [Menny] Holmquist (July 30, 1854 - April 8, 1906) and Jon Carlson (June 5, 1856 - May 23, 1919) . John was also from Sweden.

Edward married Eva Randolf Dorchester (August 28, 1880 - October 14, 1926).

Eddie became deaf and dumb after having scarlet fever. He married Eva who was from Sherman, Texas. Eva was also deaf and dumb. Eddie and Eva were professional miniature portrait painters. They met while in art school and lived in Chicago.4 (We know that Eddie attended the Art Institute of Chicago, so it is at the Institute that they probably met).

Eddie's cousin John T. Holmquist, learned sign language so he could communicate with his cousin. We do not know how fluent John was in sign language.

1910

By 1910 Eddie was living was his uncle August Holmquist and aunt Hanna Holmquist. Running about the house were his little cousins Elsa, Bernard, Rose, Alma, Ebba, Alice and Violet.

Also, living in August and Hanna's house was Axel Olson. Though Axel is listed in the U.S. Census as a machinist for the Harvester Co., perhaps he was also the sculptor that exhibited in the same shows as did Eddie.

Eva was born and died in Sherman, Texas. She is buried in West Hill Cemetery at Sherman, Grayson County, Texas, USA.

Eddie died in Sawyer, Michigan.

When Edward and Eva had passed away their daughter Marjorie attended boarding schools, eventually ending up at a boarding school in Fort Worth, Texas.
